What is the Role of the Catholic Artist Today?
with Catholic Artist Roger Gonzalez
Is Sacred art limited to the archives of Art History? Is it no longer as important? St. John Paul II described Art as a way of revealing the invisible truths of existence. He explained how it mirrors the Creator’s work in bringing order, meaning, and beauty to the world. In this talk we will investigate how this is applicable today as it was when he exclaimed it! Art has the unique ability to explore the depths of human existence, asking questions about suffering, love, and purpose while offering glimpses of hope and redemption rooted in divine truth.
Roger Gonzalez is a Fine Art Catholic Artist. From an early age, he read omnivorously regarding art history and was consumed with a fascination for all things having to do with art. He earned a BFA from The School of Visual Arts in NY and an MFA from Hunter College. Mr. Gonzalez also holds a Teaching certificate in K-12 Education and a Certificate in Administration/Supervision. He taught and served as an administrator for The Elizabeth Board of Education for over 25 years collectively. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor/Lecturer. He is currently residing in New Hampshire, where he is The Intermediate and Advanced/AP Fine Arts Teacher at Pinkerton Academy in Derry NH.
Mr. Gonzalez’s art work is part of National and International, Public and Private collections and publications. His work can be found in Public Buildings, Museums, and Churches alike. He has also produced portraits for European celebrities and Monarchs.
