Spiritual Reflections

Every once in a while there's a huge sign of God's presence in my life. Last night's Mass with the Saint Anne Guild was one of those moments.

I had honestly anticipated a group of 10 or 20 women for the Mass and reorganizational meeting. Instead, just over 40 women attended the Mass which, even in it's absolute simplicity, was prayerful and reverent. There was a tremendous "hush" that enveloped the whole gathering, and the Lord's presence was powerfully and clearly known.

Several of us were praying that the Holy Spirit would be present among us, especially during our meeting. And present He was! I don't think I've ever attended a meeting that was so filled with respect, charity and honesty as that meeting. Personal agendas seemed to have been put aside and instead, the good of the group and the good of the parish was clearly the first concern. And, if there was any question of the Holy Spirit's presence, the ideas that went around the Cathedral--from our spiritual life to social concerns to the ministry of hospitality--were overwhelming. Essentially, the group developed its own five-year plan and the willingness of women to step forward to serve as officers was thrilling. This group was ALIVE!

And so, God's hand was certainly with us last night. He humbled us all once again and reminded us that when we trust Him, everything comes to a fruitful end. Blessed be God!

Our slate of officers for the next year is as follows:

Co-chairs: Pauline Reed and Sharon Riggs

Vice chair: Cathy Walas

Secretary: Maureen Haas

Assistant to the Secretary: Angela Cruz

Treasurer: Louise Welsh

Thank you to these women and to all the women of the Guild who joined us. You are signs of God's presence in our parish.
