I love those days when the parish office is quiet and some of the work that gets put off during the week gets caught up. Today was one of those days. Letters were written and signed; phone calls were made; and there has even been time to play with the dog! But the better part of these days is the silence of the house. There are times when I miss the silence of a friary/monastery. But today, the rectory was exactly that quiet. And that translates into study time and extra time for prayer in addition to the office work. That's a really nice thing before a hectic weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting with the Knights of Columbus tonight. After an almost 20 year hiatus from the Knights, it's good to be with them again. The Knights do so much good for the Church and are so active in the parish, I have my regrets that I didn't maintain my contact with them for so long. They are good, faithful Catholic men (and their wives have the patience of Job with all of the time their husbands are away!). Our Church is so blessed to have them! Now what? I have the time to say Evening Prayer in the evening (not at night!), and then off to the meeting. Life is good at the Cathedral--and God continues to bless us!
