Once upon a time, these ministers were known simply as "leaders of song." In the intervening years following Vatican Council II, these women and men have taken on an increasingly important role toward animating the assembly to join in the sung liturgy.

Although the cantors continue to lead the singing of hymns and Mass propers, their greater role is to lead the assembly in the Responsorial Psalm, the Gospel Acclamation and the verses of the Communion Antiphon.

Our cantors rehearse weekly, participate in regular evaluation to hone their skills and in an annual workshop to help them grow in their understanding of their ministry.
